If you’ve been part of my journey in Spain over the past few years, you’ve probably seen more than a few answered prayers! I fully believe that God hears and answers our prayers (in one way or another) whenever we take the time to talk to and listen to Him.

I’ll post particular prayer requests I have in this section of my site. If you’d like to join me in talking to God about these needs, I welcome your prayer support. And I’ll do my best to report about how God is answering those prayers!

25 July 2010

  1. Changes at work and finishing up before August. We’re in the pre-vacation rush to get things done before people disappear. Thankfully, I’ll be disappearing too come mid-August. If I can just survive until then ...

We’re also adjusting to some structural changes at work. It will be good, but we’re all in a time of re-learning some things. And, unfortunately, there are still a few problems to solve during this last week. Please ask for wisdom for us!

  2. Priorities: As I wrote in my journal, I had a wonderful personal retreat and got to write out and pray through some hopes and goals for the next year. Please ask for more wisdom as I pray about details of those things and try to, with God’s help, go about completing them.

  3. Quality time with friends in August. I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO VACATION :) I have the added bonus of getting to see good friends from out of town, either on their turf or mine! I’m really excited about some down time and having these long, lazy days with friends. I hope God will use them to bless all of us.

4 July 2010

  1. PRAISE: I’ve now completed a year at the university. Although it’s been a very hard year, I’m grateful to have a job that I enjoy and work with good colleagues.

  2. Time management: Things are getting better, but this is still a challenge for me.

  3. Priorities: Now that things have calmed down at work and I’m going to take a couple of weeks off in August, I hope I can use some of this down time to set both professional and personal goals and priorities. I really need to hear from God about those things so that I make sure I am using my time and abilities in the best possible ways.

9 May 2010

  1. PRAISE: As I often whine about, the revolving door here is hard, especially when you find people you really connect with. I have lots of friends, but there are some people you meet who really “feed your soul.”

I’d been missing that special type of community for some time, but I didn’t realize how much until I recently met some new friends who fit that bill. Not only do this couple and I get along great, but we are in similar situations since we are in the Spanish workplace. These new friends are a direct answer to prayer. I am so thankful!

  2. Tennessee. Please pray for the areas of Tennessee affected by the recent flooding and tornadoes.

  3. PRAISE: One more week, and it’s the last day of classes at the university! Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy working with the students, but the end of the academic year means things may actually SLOW DOWN. I am ridiculously excited about this.

  4. Travels. Upcoming trips to the States for work, and then Switzerland and Italy for long weekends in June. I know it sounds exotic, but with the volcano situation, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit stressed.

  5. New small group. I am blessed to be facilitating a new small group for church. We’re hanging out each week and looking at what it really means to follow Jesus in daily, intentional ways so our lives aren’t so compartmentalized. I’m having a lot of fun so far and hope my friends are as well.

  6. Time management. Well, I’m going on a year of being PATHETIC at this. I just can’t seem to get things under control. I mean, being out of control isn’t all bad, but I don’t feel like I’m using my time wisely. Maybe it’s time to ask for some accountability in this area!

24 February 2010

  1. PRAISE: While things have been really hard at work, I am learning a lot and hope to improve processes for the future. It is really rewarding working with the students and knowing that their time either at Nebrija or abroad at one of our partner universities will change their lives!

  2. PRAISE: We have a couple of new girls at work, and they are doing a TERRIFIC job. I am really grateful for the help with the international students. Please pray their adjustment will continue to go well and that I can be a support to them.

  3. Balance. I’m still not doing very well with this. Too many people to see, too little time! This silly job keeps getting in the way of my social life! :) No, seriously, I still need to find a balance between rest/downtime for myself and spending quality time with the people I love here. Yes, I’m an introvert, but I’ve been blessed with so many great relationships here that it’s hard to fit in quality time for everyone.

  4. For me to stay close to God. I am having some really cool experiences with God lately, and since I have so much going on, I need to stay close to Him more than ever. I specifically know that with so much activity, I MUST make time to LISTEN to Him, not just talk to Him. If I do that, I know I will get to know Him better and He will lead me to His best for me in every aspect of my life.

6 February 2010

  1. PRAISE: I have been reading over my journal entries from a year ago (sorry, they’re on the old site and not public now) and am just amazed at how much my life has changed. I have been allowed to experience so many new, wonderful and challenging things. I want to praise God for how He has taken such good care of me and for being with me every step of the way.

  2. PRAISE: We have new employees in our office!!! This is a total answer to prayer as one of the new girls will be working with ME on student exchanges! She is very sharp and is already being a great help to me. Please remember Ana as she adjusts and please ask that I am able to train her well.

  3. Next couple of weeks: Believe it or not, the past three weeks at work have been HEAVENLY. Yes, my post-holiday attitude has helped a lot, but also, students have been in exams and it has been QUIET around the office. We can actually get things done, go for coffee ... and we are laughing a LOT more than before. That is a good feeling.

Now. The next two weeks are going to get hairy. The new crop (100-something) of study abroad students will arrive on Friday, Feb. 12, so it will be crazy getting them oriented, registered and settled in (fun stress, but stress nonetheless). THEN the following week we will be assigning study abroad destinations for 2010-11 to our own Spanish students, and that will be nuts as well.

Please remember me, the team and all our students over the next two weeks. With any luck I’ll take a couple of days off once this all blows over :)

  4. Wisdom.

  5. Growth. Over the past few months I have really been challenged in some new ways, and it is helping me to grow personally. Of course, there is little growth without pain, and I am coming face-to-face with some of my personality flaws (selfishness, pride, tendency toward too much black-and-white instead of grace, etc.).

While discovering more of my weaknesses isn’t the most fun thing in the world, it IS a positive process if I can learn from it. I want to own up to my flaws and let God change those things to reflect His character--and in the process, better love those around me.

20 January 2010

  1. PRAISE: Tomorrow I pick up my NEW and IMPROVED residence card/work permit! Woohoo!!! I don’t have to mess with that process again for two more years :)

  2. Balance and time management. Please see my entry on “non-resolutions” and pray toward this end!

  3. Continued wisdom. I’m walking through some uncharted territory both personally and professionally and know that I need God’s guidance. Keep the prayers for wisdom coming, please.
